Internet Based Casinos V. Las Vegas

August 30th, 2009 · No Comments

For those that love to play poker, or hope to win some money playing poker, online casino games are easy to enter and you can play from the comfort of your home or office, anytime. Compared to Vegas, there are several differences. For one thing, an online casino will let you play poker with play money.

In Las Vegas, Nevada, you don’t get second chances and you don’t get time to practice. Your money is on the line and at risk from the moment you start to play. With online casinos, you can participate in all the games using play money so nothing is at risk. Then, when you feel confident, you can put real money into an account and start making real bets if you desire.

Just like in Vegas, there are lots of different casino games to choose from when you play online. You can play craps, the slots, blackjack, Texas hold’ em, and many other games-all from the comfort of your own chair. You have zero travel expenses and you can play whenever you want-at any time of day. And you can bet real money or just have fun and play with the casino’s play money.

At online casinos, you can also take advantage of opportunities to play freerolls. Here you have the opportunity to get real cash payouts or win seats to big money games elsewhere. They start out with quite a few players, but if you’re good, you could move up to the top.

Many players that start with play money, mover to the freerolls as a next step to start playing with real money. The online casino gives you the chance to win big money without an actual investment, which is something that Vegas casinos don’t do.

It’s not unheard of these days for people to learn how to play poker entirely online. They start out at the online casino games and keep getting better and better. Sometimes they will travel to Vegas to take a seat at a high stakes tournament if they win a seat at such a game, but often that experience is the poker player’s very first time in a real Vegas casino.

Poker is easy to learn online. Most of the online casinos have tutorials or features that teach you how to play their gambling games, and poker is just one of those you can learn. And the best part is, using play money, you won’t risk a cent while you learn-even if you lose-like you would in Vegas.

Of course, going to Vegas is something that every avid poker player should do at least once. The atmosphere is charged and the sound of all the machines is exciting. Playing with actual chips is slightly different than playing on the computer, where the online casino tallies your chip points and you just have to pick a dollar amount to bet, versus knowing what chips to throw into the middle of the table at Vegas. Live play is slightly different than playing online casino games, for that reason.

When it comes to Vegas Vs the online casino, there are many advantages to the online casino games and once you have perfected them, you may find yourself trying your luck in Vegas!

How To Find Legal Music Downloads

August 30th, 2009 · No Comments

Finding legal music downloads on the Internet is nothing like as difficult as it used to be. Only a few years ago, to find music downloads on the Internet, you would have to resort to peer to peer file sharing programs which was of course illegal. While many of these still exist, many of them have been closed down.

The great advantage of music downloads is that you do not need to download a whole album. Up until recent times, the only other choice was to buy an entire album, spend a lot more money on it and get a load of music you don’t want anyway.

Although some retailers to allow you to mix your own CD, it is very inconvenient and something that many people just aren’t interested in when they can download and music file in just a couple of minutes on the Internet.

By far the most popular and well known of these music download places is Apple iTunes. ITunes has an enormous database of albums available and it is very likely that you’ll get exactly what you want there. Anyone who has an iPod will be aware of iPod downloads which are just MP3s from this site that will play on any media player.

Because you only download songs you actually want, it also works out a lot cheaper as well. Though some walk in retailers do actually allow you to do this, it is very inconvenient for many people for obvious reasons. On the Internet, you can choose exactly the songs you want and download them all at once or just download one at a time when you decide you want a specific song.

Another obvious advantage of downloading legal music online, is that you can get exactly what you want. The databases are typically much larger than anything else available and even those lesser known albums will likely be available.

The beauty of being able to meet you and albums as great as well. There is nothing more frustrating than when you have to spend a whole load of money on something you don’t want just because there are one or two songs on the album that you like.

However, one of the complaints that people often have about MP3 is that it is lower quality than CD recordings. While this is true, the average user won’t notice much difference as files that you download tend to be high quality at the sacrifice of more file space.

However, there are various other options and many countries in the world have legal music download resources available so you are not only limited to music from your own country in most cases. All you need is a reasonably fast Internet connection, for credit card and a bit of money to spend. You will be able to build up your music collection much faster, cheaper and what’s more, you will be able to have exactly what you want and no extra files that you aren’t interested in.

Choosing IT Training Described

August 29th, 2009 · No Comments

Nice One! As you’re looking at this we guess you must be considering retraining for a new career – that means you’ve already taken one more step than the majority. Less of us than you’d think are happy and fulfilled in our work, but it’s rare anyone does more than moan. You could join a select group who make a difference in their lives.

When considering retraining, it’s vital that you have in mind what you want and don’t want from the job you’re hoping to qualify for. Ensure that things would be a lot better before you spend time and effort taking a new turn. We recommend looking at the big picture first, to make an informed decision:

* Do you see yourself dealing with people? Is that as part of a team or with a lot of new people? It could be working by yourself on specific tasks would be more your thing?

* Have you given much thought to which industry you would be suited to? (With the economic downturn, it’s more important than ever to get it right.)

* Is this the final time you envisage re-training, and if it is, do you believe this career choice will service that need?

* Do you think being qualified will allow you to find new work easily, and stay employable until sixty five?

When listing your options, it’s relevant that you consider Information Technology – everyone knows that it is one of the few growth sectors. It’s not full of geeky individuals looking at computer screens all day – we know those roles do exist, but the majority of roles are done by people like you and me who get on very well.

Looking around, we find an excess of employment in computing. Arriving at the correct choice in this uncertainty is a mammoth decision. Because with no commercial skills in computing, how should we possibly be expected to understand what a particular job actually consists of? Often, the key to unlocking this issue properly comes from a full talk over a variety of topics:

* What hobbies you have and enjoy – these can show the possibilities will satisfy you.

* Why you want to consider getting involved with Information Technology – is it to conquer a long-held goal like working from home maybe.

* Where do you stand on salary vs the travel required?

* Some students don’t fully understand the time required to attain their desired level.

* The level of commitment and effort you’ll commit getting qualified.

Ultimately, the most intelligent way of covering these is from a meeting with an advisor that has enough background to give you the information required.

A sneaky way that colleges make more money is by adding exam fees upfront to the cost of a course and presenting it as a guarantee for your exams. It looks impressive, but is it really:

It’s very clear we’re still being charged for it – obviously it has already been included in the overall figure from the training provider. It’s absolutely not free – don’t think these companies are so generous with their money! The fact is that if a student pays for each examination, at the time of taking them, there’s a much better chance they’ll pass first time – since they’ll be conscious of what they’ve paid and their application will be greater.

Take your exams as locally as possible and don’t pay up-front, but seek out the best deal for you when you’re ready. A lot of questionable training companies make a great deal of profit by getting in the money for examinations upfront and hoping that you won’t take them all. Re-takes of previously unsuccessful exams via organisations who offer an ‘Exam Guarantee’ are monitored with tight restrictions. They’ll insist that you take mock exams first till you’ve proven conclusively that you can pass.

Exams taken at VUE and Prometric centres are around 112 pounds in Great Britain. What’s the point of paying huge fees for ‘exam guarantees’ (usually wrapped up in the course package price) – when a quality course, support and study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will really guarantee success.

A lot of men and women think that the state educational path is the way they should go. Why then are commercially accredited qualifications becoming more popular with employers? The IT sector is of the opinion that for mastery of skill sets for commercial use, official accreditation supplied for example by CISCO, Adobe, Microsoft and CompTIA is closer to the mark commercially – at a far reduced cost both money and time wise. University courses, for instance, clog up the training with vast amounts of background study – with much too broad a syllabus. This holds a student back from getting enough specific knowledge about the core essentials.

If an employer is aware what work they need doing, then they simply need to advertise for the particular skill-set required. Vendor-based syllabuses are set to meet an exact requirement and can’t change from one establishment to the next (in the way that degree courses can).

Often, trainers provide a shelf full of reference manuals. Obviously, this isn’t much fun and isn’t the best way to go about studying effectively. Research over recent years has always shown that an ‘involved’ approach to study, where we utilise all our senses, will more likely produce memories that are deeper and longer-lasting.

Locate a program where you’ll receive a selection of DVD-ROM’s – you’ll start with videos of instructor demonstrations, and be able to use virtual lab’s to practice your new skills. You’ll definitely want a study material demo’ from the training company. The materials should incorporate demo’s from instructors, slideshows and lab’s for you to practice your skills in.

It is generally unwise to go for purely on-line training. With highly variable reliability and quality from most broadband providers, make sure you get physical media such as CD or DVD ROM’s.

Get rid of any salesman who pushes one particular program without performing a ‘fact-find’ to assess your abilities as well as experience level. Always check they have access to a large range of products so they can solve your training issues. It’s worth remembering, if you have some relevant previous certification, then it’s not unreasonable to expect to commence studying further along than someone who is new to the field. Opening with a basic PC skills course first may be the ideal way to commence your computer programme, but really depends on your level of familiarity with computers.

Recognizing When To Fold Playing Online Poker

August 29th, 2009 · No Comments

Knowing when to fold is something that many players have a tough time learning. Because they obviously think their hand is the winning hand, they neglect to think about what their opponent could possibly have.

Many online casino games have players who always “bluff” even though their hand is worthless. For online casino gambling, especially if you want to save your entire stash of chips, though, you should make sure you have the best hand of anyone at the table, or you could be out.

Therefore, you need to know when to fold so that you have the best strategy possible. This is true not only online, but with “no limit” online games, too. If you don’t fold when the time is right, you’ll find yourself out of the game quickly and you won’t be successful when you try to win. Texas hold ‘em games, for example, are particularly notorious for having bluffers, and they’re also well-known for having players who have hands that are better than yours, simply with the turn of a final card.

It is harder to know when to fold in online casino games because you can’t read the other players’ body language, facial expressions or go by what they say. The only way you can learn to read players in online casino gambling is to observe and see if you notice a pattern in their betting.

For example, you may see a player that goes “all in” constantly and never folds. If that’s true, it’s probably also true that a good poker hand is going to beat him. However, sometimes a player will constantly fold, and then will all of a sudden “go all in;” that usually means that player has a very good hand and you should fold if yours is mediocre.

All good players know when to fold. With Texas hold ‘em, you have to see what cards are in the center of the table and then determine what the possibilities are from those. For example, if the “flop” is three suited cards, somebody may have a flush at the table. With three consecutive cards, somebody at the table could have a straight. With three of a kind, there may be a full house at the table, etc.

If you don’t take a look at these possibilities and keep them in mind, it’s likely that you will lose. However, if you can make a hand on “the flop,” remember, too, that somebody else might be able to as well. Their hand could be of a higher value than yours is. With online casino games, remember that two straights are not equal. Instead, the player with the highest valued straight is going to win.

The kicker card can also determine who the winner is going to be in an online poker game. A lot of players forget about this and may lose everything if this is true. Just as one example, if you have an Ace and a Queen in your hand and another player has an Ace and a King in his hand, he will win if the flop brings a pair of aces. That will mean you have a pair of aces, true, but the other player’s King “kicker” is going to ensure that he wins.

You need to know when to fold with online casino games, and to do that you need to learn how to read the other players and guess at their potential hands. If you can do that, you can also guess which may beat yours.

Sanders, Michael Lerner, Carrie Preston, and Katie Moore. (115 minutes, 1997)

Jandance: Underground cartoonist/painter Hulce, committed to his ex-wife and youthful kid, is framed-evidently by the complete populace of L.A. for the murder of gal Madsen. (100 minutes, 1987)

Mississippi Burning: It’s 1964 and three civil rights activists have been murdered. FBI agents join the investigation. With KKK influences, the Sheriffs department is less than cooperative. The towns people openly revolt against the two agents as they try to uncover the mystery of who killed the two with, and one black civil rights workers from the north.

See if “Free Movie Rentals” gets you to a good download site. If that one doesn’t work try another one. Make another attempt with “Movie File Sharing”.

The Ways In That the El Gordo Differs From Conventional Lotto’s

August 28th, 2009 · No Comments

The goal of this article is to emphasize some of the essential differences between popular conventional national lottery games and the world famous El Gordo.

In a conventional lotto game a player is usually required to pick a series of numbers from a specific number range as well as an additional bonus number. For example, in the UK National lottery a player must choose 6 main numbers from 1-49 inclusive and then a further bonus number from the same range. To win the top prize, a player must match all of their six main selected numbers with those numbers drawn. If no ticket holder matches all the drawn numbers in a given week, the top prize is rolled forward to the next week increasing in size as it does so.

Playing the el gordo lottery

The Christmas El Gordo draw is vastly different in this area; there are only a certain number of tickets made available for this draw and due to this, winners are guaranteed in every draw.

The cost of purchasing a full El Gordo ticket (Billete) is also vastly different from purchasing a ticket in a normal lottery game, like the UK lotto. Buying a ticket for one UK lotto draw costs a United Kingdom citizen just 1 pound. Elgordo tickets will, on the other hand, set you back 200 Euros each. Owing to the significant expense of playing this lottery game, complete tickets are divided into ten parts (Decimos) costing a more affordable 20 Euros. It is consequently fairly common for groups of friends or family members to divide the cost of an entire El Gordo lottery ticket in order to make the game a more feasible proposition.

In the UK lottery a very small percentage of individuals ever win sizeable sums of cash, with the majority left disappointed every week. The El Gordo lotto on the other hand gives that winning sensation to a much larger percentage of people. In the 2006 El Gordo draw, 3 million Euros were paid out to each of the 180 winning billetes. In the El Gordo draw of 2005, the winning number was sold in the town of Vic in Catalonia (population 37,825), whose inhabitants shared in the region of 500 million Euros.

The El Gordo lottery also offers up considerably improved chances of collecting a cash payout compared to that of the UK lotto; with the Elgordo you have a very good 1 in 6 chance of securing a cash payout compared to 1 in 52 when participating in the UK lottery.

When partaking in lotteries such as the UK lotto, extra lottery tickets are made available every time a pound is spent meaning that tickets never run out for any of the weekly draws. The El Gordo is vastly different because only a certain number of tickets are ever printed and once they are all sold no more will become available.

The Elgordo not only creates enormous excitement in its native Spain but now all around the world due to the ever increasing amount of web-based lottery ticket sales agents. It is therefore imperative that you pick up your chosen amount of lotto tickets as soon as they hit the market, to avoid disappointment.

The Short Of Aion Power-Leveling Services

August 28th, 2009 · No Comments

A new and popular game called Aion has attracted many users to online power-leveling services. Online power-leveling sites currently allow players to advance to higher levels within the game. Aion is an MMORPG has been newly marketed in North America as Aion. It originated in South Korea several years ago as Aion: The Tower of Eternity in South Korea.

Many of these websites offer similar services for their customers. They note that they have experienced staff to help those who would like to achieve higher levels of the game. This is all done for a set fee in which most services accept credit cards, Paypal, or Western Union. They provide 24/7 service to their clients, and most allow a live chat to answer questions. Some sites will have different packages to choose from depending on the customers needs. Service is usually available in minutes of signing up.

Power-leveling is not a new concept in the world of online games. Online games became popular with games like Dungeons and Dragons while power-leveling sprouted from the game, EverQuest. One can find many power-leveling services for other games such as 2 Moons or Warhammer Online.

To describe the service more in-depth, players who have more difficulty defeating the enemies may employ these online services. These players may have several years of experience who are more skilled at defeating these challenges. An example of other strategies may include killing in one spot of the game repeatedly to gain levels.

There are opinions that power-leveling is a form of cheating. They believe that reaching these levels beyond what the developer’s intended reduces the game’s challenge. Changes made by developers of Aion are hoping to prevent power-leveling. These might include limiting the players to only a certain amount of rewards at each level.

This game is played by many worldwide. It was originally developed by NCsoft in South Korea in 2006. Local versions have been marketed across Asia like China, Taiwan, as well as Europe and Australia.

The basis of the game revolves around combat. The premise of the story is of a civilization with agod named Aion. This god created the human race of Draken who, in time, became the nemesis of Aion. They wanted to fight against the rule of Aion. He then, in turn, created lords to fend the Draken. The lords created a wall which also protected some of the humans within this barrier to keep them safe.

The player can choose between a wide selection of characters to play. Each character has their special capabilities to travel through each level, and they each have different combat skills. These characters can also be modified to the player’s preference such as height, appearance, and wear such as armor.

Points are obtained in combat depending on the target the player seizes and kills. The higher the level of the opposing man the player defeats, the more points they obtain. If the player himself is defeated or killed, he loses points and does not advance to the next level.

Microsoft MCSE Courses Revealed

August 27th, 2009 · No Comments

As you’ve arrived here it’s probable that either you want to get into networking and the MCSE has reared its head, or you’re already a professional and you’re aware that your career is blocked until your get the Microsoft qualification.

When researching training colleges, ensure that you steer clear of those who cut costs by not upgrading their courses to the latest level of Microsoft development. Such institutions will hold back the trainee as they will have been learning from an old version of MCSE which doesn’t match the current exam syllabus, so it’s going to be hugely difficult for them to get qualified. Avoid making a hasty decision when buying a training program without the right advice. Find a training company that will put effort into advising you on an appropriate training track for you.

Quite often, students have issues with one area of their training which doesn’t even occur to them: The breakdown of the course materials before being sent out to you. You may think it logical (with training often lasting 2 or 3 years to pass all the required exams,) for your typical trainer to courier one section at a time, until you’ve passed all the exams. Although: Often, the staged breakdown insisted on by the company won’t suit you. It may be difficult to get through all the elements inside of their particular timetable?

Put simply, the best solution is to have a copy of their prescribed order of study, but to receive all the materials up-front. You’re then in possession of everything in case you don’t finish as fast as they’d like.

For the most part, a normal student doesn’t know where to start with the IT industry, or what market is worth considering for retraining. Working through long lists of different and confusing job titles is a complete waste of time. The vast majority of us have no idea what our own family members do for a living – so we have no hope of understanding the ins and outs of a particular IT career. Consideration of the following issues is important if you want to dig down a solution that suits you:

* Your individual personality and interests – what kind of work-related things you like and dislike.

* What time-frame are you looking at for retraining?

* Is your income higher on your priority-scale than some other areas.

* With so many different sectors to gain certifications for in computing – there’s a need to achieve some key facts on what separates them.

* How much time you’ll commit the training program.

In all honesty, your only option to gain help on these matters tends to be through a good talk with a professional who has years of experience in computing (and specifically the commercial needs.)

Your training program should always include the latest Microsoft (or Cisco, CompTIA etc.) authorised exam preparation packages. As a lot of examining boards for IT are from the USA, you’ll need to be used to the correct phraseology. You can’t practice properly by just going through the right questions – they have to be in the same format as the actual exams. Be sure to request some practice exams so you can check your comprehension whenever you need to. Practice or ‘mock’ exams log the information in your brain – so you won’t be quite so nervous at the actual exam.

Being at the forefront of the leading edge of new technology really is electrifying. Your actions are instrumental in defining the world to come. We are really only just starting to get to grips with how all this change will affect us. The way we correlate with the world as a whole will be significantly affected by technology and the internet.

And don’t forget salaries moreover – the average salary in Great Britain for a typical IT professional is considerably greater than remuneration packages in other sectors. It’s a good bet that you’ll receive a whole lot more than you could reasonably hope to get in other industries. Due to the technological sector increasing nationally and internationally, the chances are that the need for certified IT specialists will flourish for decades to come.

Throw out the typical salesperson that offers any particular course without an in-depth conversation so as to understand your abilities as well as experience level. Ensure that they have a generous array of training from which they could solve your training issues. With a strong background, or perhaps a bit of real-world experience (some certifications gained previously perhaps?) then it could be that your starting level will be different from a trainee who has no experience. If you’re a student commencing IT study for the first time, you might like to ease in gradually, by working on user-skills and software training first. This can easily be incorporated into any educational course.

Finding Movie Downloads

August 27th, 2009 · No Comments

There is more and more technology and expansion of the Internet. People are no longer obliged to drive to get video films. People can select films on the Internet and wait for the video to arrive in the mail.

But that?s not all; people can also select and view the film immediately online. There are two ways to do this. People can pay for feature films or some members try to receive free online downloads.

Still some try for the free route online. There are benefits that an online membership has over the brick and mortar video rental store. There are also advantages of the paid membership over the free online options.

There are great advantages to joining a site for downloading films. One is the size of the movie title selection that is at your disposal. You can download as often and as much as you want from these huge film archives.

Traditional brick and mortar stores have a DVD storage capacity that is limited by their premises. This means that they are obliged to respond to only what is popular and in demand. Download online members are not limited by space.

They can accommodate a wider variety of film genres. In addition to the films of the time, whatever your choice, you’re more likely to find them online. It is much easier to surf the Internet for a film choice instead of going through shelf after shelf in the film stores.

It is a lot easier to surf the Internet for a movie selection than to go through shelf after shelf at the movie stores. An online site will usually have a search box that can search by the title, actor, director or any particular keyword. Also, lists that group movies into different categories or genres are usually provided.

In addition to movie genre, the selections are often easier to make. This is because online they are grouped by popularity, latest additions, critic picks and alphabetically. Some even allow the members themselves to rate and write reviews for the movies.

Movie reviews are given by everyday people. This is why they are often a better indicator of a movie’s entertainment value than those of professional critics. Online memberships also have a bigger selection of movies in their archives.

These tend to be very old “classic” movies. The major television networks, generally with recent episodes of popular television series, are available for viewing on their Web sites. However, only a small number of these series are available and only for a limited time.

Movie download accessions are protected against viruses and worms. Spyware and malicious software are also protected too. This is very important to understand.

Tips To Increase Your In-Game Performance in World of Warcraft

August 26th, 2009 · No Comments

World of Warcraft is currently held the world record for the most subscribed MMORPG. With more than 12 million people playing the game, it is definitely the most famous MMORPG in the world. Lots of online player has become addicted to World of Warcraft.

If you are still a newbie in playing World of Warcraft then you might want to find some tips on how to play this online game efficiently and effectively. The internet is filled with lots of information about World of Warcraft. And most experienced online player will be happy to share you their knowledge and experience in playing World of Warcraft.

Below are some useful tips which I have from my experience and you can use this tips in your adventure playing World of Warcraft.

1. World of Warcraft is not a game for being individualistic. You need to make a friend with other online players. You want them to share their experience and knowledge about World of Warcraft. This is pretty important, especially when you are still new in the World of Warcraft. Then in turn, when you gain more knowledge or new knowledge, you can also share that knowledge to your friends. Basically you will need some assistance in playing this online game.

2. Learn all your spells well. Never to focus one just a few spells. In my experience, some spells are most likely to be often used compare to other spells. These spells are your common spells usually cast in battle. But you need to know other spells which you may not use often. These rare to use spells usually are good in certain condition and situation. If you do not know about those rare to use spells, then you are most likely to lose the battle. After all, those spells are made for a reason. That is why you need to expand your knowledge about the usefulness of spells, although you may not use all the spells. It never hurt the have more knowledge about something.

3. You need to have a big slots of bag since this bag will be very helpful in your journey. In World of Warcraft, you will need to carry your items in your bag. Bag with a few slots can only contain few items. Bag with lots of slots can contain lots of items. In your journey, sometimes you will came across a valuable items. When your bag is small, it will be very quick to be full and can not carry anymore. Then you need to drop your less valuable item in exchange for that valuable item. That is why having a big slots of bag as quickly as possible can be very helpful in your adventure.

4. Having a big slots of bag will be very helpful but it will be helpful for a certain limit. There are no infinite slots of bag. So how are you going to deal with the limitation? One thing you can do is to drop the less valuable items. But it is better not to just drop it but the sell it. The Auction House is the place for selling items. Or you can also go a game merchant. By selling your less valuable items, you will receive gold and become a rich player. What I mean with less valuable items are items which you did not need in your adventure. Choose carefully of which item is valuable and which is not. You do not want to sell your valuable items which will help your performance in the game just for you to get some gold. So be wise.

5. The Horde has both, the best and the worst hub cities in Azeroth. The best hub city is the Undead Undercity. The city is designed in a circle shape so it is impossible for you to get lost. You can easily navigate and explore the city. Finding a shop is a simple task in this city. The worst hub city is Orgrimmar. If Undead Undercity is designed in a circle shape, Orgrimmar is designed like a maze. It is hard to find your way in the city and most likely to be lost. My advise is to avoid Orgrimmar since it will only consume your valuable time.

6. Pay attention to your skill level. Many online players tend to overlook their skill level, which can cost you skill point increases if your level is already at the max.

7. You need to avoid enemies if they attack you in group. Run away from them. Eventually they will stop chasing you after a certain distance. Fighting group of enemies can definitely give you lots of experience. But that is if you win the fight. So it is better to fight group of enemies when you are confident enough that you will gain victory.

Well, above are some tips I can share with you from my own experience. Be patient if your character is still low in level. Give it some time and be patience. When you have familiarize with the game, maybe you can share your experience and knowledge to others. Have fun playing World of Warcraft.

The History of Radio Flyer Wagons

August 26th, 2009 · No Comments

For many years, kids have loved Radio Flyer wagons, and they have been on birthday and Christmas lists for many kids over the year. For many children this wagon has become a place to imagine and come up with all kinds of adventures. Of course while you may be familiar with this toy, you may not know much about the history of these unique wagons.

Believe it or not, it was an Italian immigrant that was behind the Radio Flyer wagons. His name was Antonio Pasin, and he had the idea himself. Being a good wood worker and quite determined he began working in New York City. Soon he had enough money to buy the tools he needed to have a workshop of his own. He started building these little toy wagons and he would sell them.

Decades later he would start producing more of the wagons. He wanted to make wagons that would work for any child and they began to develop more than just wood wagons. They started making steel wagons, which were given the name, Radio Flyer wagons. He named them this because of the invention of the radio and his amazement with the concept of flight.

Later Pasin would bring the Radio Flyer wagons to the Chicago World’s Fair. The wagons became quite popular and made Pasin and his wagons very famous. They actually became the most well known manufacturers of these types of wagons and even years later these wagons are still some of the most popular, and even more models have been added to their line up.

Still today Radio Flyer wagons are very popular and the company still makes millions each year. Kids still love the Radio Flyer and have great adventures in these wagons. So it is easy to see why so many children yet today want to have one of these exciting wagons that have been around for so many years.

Guide on organising and running a successful quiz night

August 26th, 2009 · No Comments

Getting started:

Preparation is the most important ingredient – the subject matter should be popular and quiz questions need to be interesting. There is a load of free resource online enabling anyone to write their own quiz, but this can take a very long time and often it’s more worthwhile buying a ready-made quiz pack.

Rounds:

If in a bar or club start with a picture round. It lets everyone know the quiz will be starting soon, and does not require questions to be read out, so the quiz master can check everything is prepared.

If the quiz is being run in a pub picture round sheets can be given out as you go from table to table asking if people are joining – if they are take their money and give them an answer sheet and picture round.

Questions: The questions in a quiz need to be challenging, accurate, guessable and interesting. There is no point in setting a question that everyone will know the answer to. When I write a quiz I try to make sure that most people / teams will get at least 50% correct, but I never want anyone to get 100%.

Make sure the questions in the quiz are interesting and guessable. If someone cannot answer the question they should be able to have a go, and if they don’t know the answer the question should be interesting enough that they want to know.

Crucially, quiz questions must be accurate! I once went to a pub quiz and there was a question along these lines: What is the name of the barrister living at No. 10 Downing Street (at the time Tony Blair was PM)? The answer given was Cherie Blair, but there was a small uproar as some teams had answered Cherie Booth – the name she used professionally. This illustrates how badly thought out questions can cause problems. If a team lost by one point because of this they would have been quite upset (after all, a pub quiz is a serious battle!)

The Quizmaster:

If the quiz is being run for a large number of people, a pub or bar, or fund raiser for example, the quiz master should be confident speaking to a fairly large audience. Injecting some chitchat and humour can be good too, but remember that people are there for a quiz, not a comedy act. Also, they should be fair but firm – the quizmaster’s decision is final!

Layout:

The layout of the quiz depends on the situation – obviously a quiz for a social event will be formatted differently to an evening in with friends at your house!

For pub quizzes, social and fund raising events, I find that giving out the picture round first whilst collecting the entrance fee works best. Obviously a night in with your friends is a lot more informal.

If it’s a tie…

If teams are deadlocked at the end of the quiz the best way to decide the outcome is with a tiebreaker question. Make things more interesting by asking each team to select someone to answer it.

Get the person nominated to the front, and ask each team member the question for them to answer. Most of the time this will result in the rest of their team yelling what they should answer and creates a fun way to decide the outcome.

And the winner gets…

Giving out the prize can be another part of the entertainment. There are many ways to do this, from just giving them a set prize (maybe 20, or a free drink each) or encouraging them to bet the winnings.

They could select from an envelope, gamble on successfully completing a Play Your Cards Right game, answer another question – the options are only limited by your imagination.
